#PickthePike hopes to Lure Marriott (PHOTO)
Friends of White Flint launched its #PickthePike campaign hoping to persuade Marriott to pick the Pike District for its new international headquarters. The group unveiled a new #PickthePike ad located at the bus shelter directly in front of Marriott headquarters.
Earlier this year Marriott chief executive Arne M. Sorenson announced the company is planning to relocate its headquarters from it’s current Bethesda location and is searching for a site that’s accessible to Metro.
Councilmember Roger Berliner, State Delegate Marc Korman, State Senator Rich Madaleno, State Farm Agent Howard Feldman, and Pike District resident Heather Dlhopolsky were critical parts of the campaign kickoff.
The District, Virginia and other parts of Maryland will all be competing to host Marriott’s new headquarters, Montgomery County officials argue the Pike District is the perfect spot citing the area’s many amenities, including metro access, diverse restaurants, entertainment, recreation, and housing options.
