Photos: In A Summer Like No Other, Poolesville Sunflowers Stand Tall
It’s a summer like we’ve never seen before.
Camps are virtual, swim team is (mostly) canceled, and we are all walking around in face masks. But one thing has not changed here in Montgomery County: McKee-Beshers WMA sunflowers have bloomed and are back in full force.

Maryland Department of Natural Resources-Wildlife and Heritage Service plants the flowers in Poolesville each spring to provide a food source for mourning doves and other species. The sunflowers stay in bloom until the end of July.
