Parties and Parades this Memorial Day Weekend
There is something for everyone among the diverse events happening this Memorial Day Weekend in Montgomery County.
Festivals
Taste of Rockville will fill the air along Maryland Avenue and Courthouse Square with enticing smells at noon on Saturday and Sunday before dance troupes, local bands, rock’n’roll, blues, country, reggae and Latin bands start playing in the Hometown Holidays Music Fest. The Music Fest will also feature a Reptiles Alive! Show on Saturday.
Rockville will host its 74th annual Rockville Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade at Rockville Town Center on May 28, kicking off at 9 a.m. with a performance by the Rockville Concert Band and Chorus, followed by a ceremony at 9:30 and a parade at 10:30.
Ceremonies
Flags for our Heroes will open with a ceremony to honor local heroes in Bohrer Park, next to Gaithersburg High School at 11 a.m. Saturday.
The City of Gaithersburg invites the public to pay tribute to those who have served their country in a Military Service in Christman Park at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 30.
Parties
On Sunday in Silver Spring The Society Lounge will host a Melanin & Mimosas Brunch and Rooftop Party on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and the Kollege Social House Rooftop will host The Good Life Rooftop Party from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Museum Events
The National Trolley Museum in Colesville will honor our troops with a Remembering Homefront Street Cars exhibit of WWII streetcars until May 28, and a Memorial Day Tour at the Medical Museum will highlight revolutions in military medicine over the past 150 years.
