Officials Celebrate Newly Expanded National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (VIDEOS & PHOTOS)

Government officials and business leaders toured and celebrated the newly expanded National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Rockville on Monday. MyMCMedia’s Maureen Chowdhury reports.

The new facility is 60,000 square-feet and includes 22 labs. U.S. Department of Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker, U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski, U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, U.S. Rep. John Delaney,  U.S. Rep. John Sarbanes, and Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford also attended the event.

“The NCCoE is a hub for innovation and development. It unites the knowledge of the government with the know-how of the private sector to develop cyber technology tools needed to protect dot-com, dot-mil and dot-gov and to make our cyber infrastructure safer and more resilient,” Senator Mikulski said. “I fought to put funds in the federal checkbook for this center, and I’m proud to stand here at its opening. NCCoE brings the best of government experts together with world-class IT companies to make America more secure and create new jobs.”
