Northwest Lady Jags Repeat as 4A West Champs
Pitcher Ambrey Yuille powered NW Softball team to win the 4A West Regional Championship. She threw a one-hitter over Bethesda-Chevy Chase in a rescheduled game in Germantown under pleasant summer like conditions. Her teammates spotted her a 4 run lead in the first inning and she took it from there. Yuille brought home the winning run in the 6th inning to end the game at 10-0 over the Barron’s.
NW will only get a day’s rest since the rain delayed scheduling have them traveling to Field 1 at Bachman Park to face Howard. The first round semi-final playoff will be at 7 p.m.. If they continue to win they will face the winner of the other semi-final matchup between CH Flowers and Severna Park. The championship game will be played in College Park either on May 25 or 26th.
This will be NW’s fourth trip in six years to the semi-final round. Last year they won it all.
