New Rockville Police Chief Takes Lead

Victor Brito has been on the job since June 18, becoming the city’s police chief.

“I could not ask for a better opportunity to serve a great city with an involvement with community policing,” Brito said. “Policing is a team sport. Good policing involves all of us in a collaborative effort. This city has that. That synergy was important to me.”

We sat down with the chief in his office Friday, and here’s a portion of what he said:

Earlier this year, the Rockville Mayor and Council codified its rules on how police should interact with residents, including not asking for immigration status.
