New Dollar General Store Opens in Poolesville
The Town of Poolesville plans to celebrate the grand opening of the new Dollar General store at an 8 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, August 15 at 19718 Fisher Avenue.
The new store provides residents with a new place to purchase groceries and other everyday items.
“The Town of Poolesville is thrilled to welcome the new Dollar General and we were very pleased with their corporate commitment to creating a store that specifically fit the needs of Poolesville and our fellow up-county residents,” said Jim Brown, President of the Town Commissioners of Poolesville. “Economic development is a balancing act—one that is difficult to successfully accomplish in a small town—so we’re especially proud when a nationally recognized retailer such as Dollar General decides to invest in our community.”
According to a news release, the Poolesville officials worked closely with Dollar General to ensure the new store fit into the vision and character of the town and was visually appealing to residents. The Town also worked with the Maryland State Highway Administration to ensure there was adequate infrastructure to build the store along Fisher Avenue and Norris Road, and to help streamline the building process. Poolesville invested in infrastructure and storm water management improvements that not only allowed for the building of the Dollar General store, but will also allow for future construction along Fisher and Norris.
Dollar General’s grand opening celebration will feature free prizes and special deals for all patrons. The first 50 adult shoppers at the store will receive a $10 Dollar General gift card and the first 200 shoppers will receive a Dollar General tote bag, among other giveaways.
