National Park Service and Montgomery County Sign 10-Year Agreement
Glen Echo, MD : July 20, 2018
County Executive Ike Leggett and National Park Service (NPS) Acting Director for the National Capital Area Friday signed a 10-year Cooperative Agreement. The agreement puts into play the continued use of NPS lands for the historic park and its numerous national register of historic structures by Montgomery County. Glen Echo Park serves a large community of cooperators and artists who make the park an attractive setting for the celebration of arts for all on the District, Maryland and Virginia areas including tourists to this parkland. A key provision of the agreement is for the County to maintain the continued operation of the park regardless of any budgetary sequestration that halts U.S. government activities. The last time that occurred to Glen Echo Park was approximately four years ago.
In attendance also were representatives from various local constituencies including U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen, Willem Polak, the Mayor of Glen Echo , Rachelle Cherol, Past President of the Glen Echo Park Partnership for the Arts and Culture (GEPPAC), Ken Reichard, for Senator Ben Cardin and David Dice, Montgomery County Director of Procurement.
