More Stories, More Noodles (Photos)
Another week has flown by and a new group of Backpack Journalists have hit the streets to get their stories! I love how each group is completely different from the others. They have their own unique qualities and it is awesome! As always, our newest journalists have a wide variety of topics they are going to cover to tell their stories.
It was an exciting week! We were able to cover a lot of material quickly and have more time for our fun activities. As usual, the video scavenger hunt seemed to be a crowd favorite. We were very fortunate that it did not rain. The clouds were not looking too promising on Tuesday when we were outside of Montgomery Community Media’s studios. I do think that our trip to Noodles and Company in the Kentlands may be taking over as the favorite activity in the first week this summer’s Backpack Journalism Academy. The staff led our journalists on a behind the scenes tour and gave them a lot of great information about Noodles and Company. The tour ended with a delicious meal. After lunch, we walked around the Kentlands for our journalists to practice their man on the street interviews. They did an excellent job!
I am really excited to see what they come back with on Monday to edit their footage and put their stories together.
If you missed this session of Backpack Journalism, we do have our Video Journalism Class at the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair in just a few weeks. Spaces are limited, so sign up soon. For our adults out there, get in on the action with our Citizen Journalism class which begins in September.
Here’s a look back at our week:
