Montgomery COVID-19 Cases Increase by 102; Maryland Cases Increase by 777, Updated Nursing Home Numbers Released

Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics

Wednesday morning the Maryland Department of Health reported 9,052 cases of COVID-19 in Montgomery County, which is an increase of 102 cases from the 8,950 reported Tuesday.

According to the health department, 474 county residents have died form COVID-19. This is an increase of nine deaths since Tuesday. The number of probable deaths is 41.

There have been 2,106 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 348 deaths in Montgomery County nursing homes and assisted living facilities according to the Maryland Department of Health numbers released Wednesday. The numbers include staff and residents of the facilities.

Confirmed cases in senior living facilities account for 23% of the County cases, while deaths account for 73%.

As of Wednesday morning, there were 42,323 confirmed cases throughout the state. That is an increase of 777 cases in the last 24 hours. There were 2,004 deaths, an increase of 41.

In Maryland, 7,393 people have been hospitalized since the outbreak of COVID-19.

Wednesday, 1,410 Marylanders are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, which is 11 fewer than Tuesday. Of the currently hospitalized patients, 539 are in intensive care. This is two more patients in ICU beds than Tuesday.

A total of 12,919 cases and 839 deaths involve the state’s African American community. This is 24 additional deaths since Tuesday.

There have been 8,321 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 1,135 deaths in nursing homes and assisted living facilities throughout the state as of Wednesday. The number includes 5,847 cases and 1,123 deaths in residents. Since Wednesday, May 13, the state has seen an increase of 518 resident cases or 10%. Resident deaths increased by 140 or 14%.
