Montgomery County Reports Three New Coronavirus Deaths in One Week Period

Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics

Monday morning the Maryland Department of Health reported 269 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County since Friday. This brings the cumulative case count to 23,079 since the start of the pandemic.

Since the first reported case in March, 810 county residents have died from COVID-19. Since last week, Sept. 28, this is an increase of three deaths, according to the health department. The overall number of probable deaths in Montgomery County is 40.

More Montgomery County residents have died due to COVID-19 than any other jurisdiction in the state. Prince George’s has thus far lost 807 residents, the second-highest number in the state.

The three-day rolling average for test positivity, according to the county state health department, is 2.5%. According to the state’s health department, 291,025 tests have been administered in Montgomery County since the start of the pandemic.

Maryland COVID-19 Statistics

As of Monday morning, there have been 127,791 confirmed coronavirus cases throughout the state. That is an increase of 3,911 cases, or 3.16%, recorded since last Monday, Sept. 28.  COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 3,817 Marylanders, 24 since Sept. 28.

Currently, 338 Marylanders are hospitalized with COVID-19. Of those patients, 85 are in intensive care.

The state’s seven-day rolling average for test positivity is 3.02%.

A total of 40,250 cases and 1,560 deaths involve the state’s African American population.
