Montgomery County Issues Hyperthermia Alert for Tuesday Afternoon

The national weather service expects temperatures to climb into the 90s Tuesday afternoon and the heat index to be above 95 degrees. Montgomery County has issued a hyperthermia or heat alert for Tuesday from 2 to 7  p.m.

County officials urge residents to take precautions to protect themselves, and their pets, against heat-related illnesses such as heat stroke and heat exhaustion. County facilities, including libraries, swimming pools, recreation, senior centers, and regional services centers, are available to residents as cooling centers.

The City of Rockville’s cooling centers will be also be open Tuesday afternoon.

Young children, the elderly and pets should never be left in parked vehicles during hot weather.
