According to Montgomery County Police, on July 7 detectives from the Special Victims Investigations Division arrested Jereme Simmons, 32, of the 8800 block of Hunting Lane in Laurel, for having inappropriate contact with a 26-year-old female Pre-Trial Services inmate while he worked as a correctional officer for the County’s Department of Corrections.

Police said on June 9, Simmons was overseeing pre-trial inmates assigned to the Department of Corrections work detail at the Department of General Services warehouse when at approximately 1:00 p.m., the victim asked to use the bathroom. While the victim was in the bathroom, Simmons entered and assaulted her, police said.

The victim told detectives that Simmons said if they engaged in sexual activity at a later date, he would sign off on the remaining balance of her community service hours as being completed, according to police.

Police said, the victim was not incarcerated but was under the supervision of the Department of Corrections to complete community service hours for a criminal charge.

On June 25, investigators arranged for the victim to meet with Simmons at the Pre-Trial Services Unit on Ardennes Avenue in Rockville where he was recorded saying he apologized to the victim several times. Simmons told the victim planned on having sex with her on the day of the incident.

Simmons was released after posting bond.
