Meet the Gaithersburg Multicultural Committee

The Gaithersburg Multicultural Committee held its first meeting for fiscal year 2014.

Since the committee was launched in 1989, the goal has been helping city residents to understand and better appreciate diverse cultures.

The most recent committee on July 10  is looking to rejuvenate interest in coordinating cultural celebrations including: Hispanic Heritage Month, African American History Month, American Indian Native Alaskan History Month, Arab American Heritage Month and Asian Pacific Heritage Month.

At this week’s meeting, committee members discussed changing the format of  previous coordinated events.

Andi Rosati, the Gaithersburg Arts Barn Manager and a community liaison for the committee, says a final decision won’t be made until all members take a vote.
