MCPD Celebrates 90th Anniversary

Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett, Montgomery County Police Chief Tom Manger, Montgomery County Fire/Rescue Chief Richard Bowers, Montgomery County Sheriff Darren Popkin and State’s Attorney John McCarthy are scheduled to appear and participate in the blood and food drive to commemorate the 90th Anniversary of the Montgomery County Police Department at 8 a.m. on Oct. 19 at the public safety headquarters in Gaithersburg.

Joining Leggett and public safety officials will be Larry White, the Executive Director of Mid-County United Ministries.  The contributions of those who choose to donate food items as part of this celebration will benefit the Mid-County United Ministries Captain Joseph Mattingly Food Pantry.

The goal of the blood drive is the donation of 90 pints of blood – one for each year that MCP has been in existence.  As of this afternoon, approximately 65 prospective donors have registered to donate.  The department is encouraging others who wish to donate to register for a time slot on the American Red Cross website or to visit the PSHQ on Oct. 19 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
