MCDOT Wins State Grant for Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Projects

The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) has awarded local jurisdictions and non-profits with more than $20 million in grant money to support improvements for 43 bicycle and pedestrian safety projects across the state including here in Montgomery County.

Montgomery County’s Department of Transportation has received a grant of $269,834 to install four bikeshare stations along the Bethesda Trolley Trail.   The award will fund final design, purchase and installation of the stations that will connect existing bikeshares in Bethesda with stations expected to be installed in White Flint and Twinbrook in 2018.

Another grant totaling $46,840 was awarded to MCDOT’s Safe Routes to School program by the National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board for pedestrian and traffic safety enforcement.
