Maryland’s Seven-Day COVID-19 Positivity Average Hits New Low
Montgomery County recorded 56 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, according to Maryland Health Department data — bringing its cumulative total since the first case was confirmed in March to 19,127.
Since Monday two new deaths were added to the county’s COVID-19 related death toll, which is now 773. Montgomery County has the most fatalities of any county in the state. Only Prince George’s County has a higher number of cumulative infections.
Maryland had 520 new cases on Tuesday, bringing its total to 101,235. Seven new deaths were reported statewide in the last 24 hours. Baltimore and Montgomery Counties both reported two deaths, and Howard and Prince George’s both increased by one. The data was not available for one of the seven new deaths.
Eighteen additional people were in the hospital for coronavirus-related reasons Tuesday than the day before. The number of Marylanders currently hospitalized because of COVID-19 was 453.
The state’s seven-day rolling average for test positivity was 3.21% on Tuesday — the lowest rate of the pandemic yet.
