Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh Condemns Trump’s Immigration Ban
Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh took to Twitter to criticize President Donald Trump’s federal executive order on banning Muslims. He stated in a Twitter post, “It is saddening and disgraceful when the President misuses his authority to demonize immigrants, spew hate and sow fear.”
Frosh has joined 16 other state attorneys general from across the country in condemning the federal executive order in a joint letter.
The letter reads as follows:
“As the chief legal officers for over 130 million Americans and foreign residents of our states, we condemn President Trump’s unconstitutional, unAmerican and unlawful Executive Order and will work together to ensure the federal government obeys the Constitution, respects our history as a nation of immigrants, and does not unlawfully target anyone because of their national origin or faith.
“Religious liberty has been, and always will be, a bedrock principle of our country and no president can change that truth.
“Yesterday, multiple federal courts ordered a stay of the Administration’s dangerous Executive Order. We applaud those decisions and will use all of the tools of our offices to fight this unconstitutional order and preserve our nation’s national security and core values.
“We are confident that the Executive Order will ultimately be struck down by the courts. In the meantime, we are committed to working to ensure that as few people as possible suffer from the chaotic situation that it has created.”

“It is saddening and disgraceful when the …” Attorney General changes the words and actions of the United States President, claiming that he “misuses his authority to demonize immigrants, spew hate and sow fear.” He didn’t do that. What he did do is to provide the Immigration Service and all of the regulatory personnel, including yourselves, an ability to ensure that the greatest care is given to determining who we provide an opportunity to come to this great country of ours. Ellis Island existed for many years for the same reason that the present guidance that the Executive Order does… enable all of you to protect those of us who are already citizens and/or Green Card holders. People who are not problems and are transparent will have NO objections to this action. Those who don’t know anything about what was written will fly off the handle and claim ridiculous things, as the MD Attorney General and the other 17 AGs have done. You and your job and your staff are our only hope to protect us from those who would do us true harm. Have you forgotten 9/11? I have not. Please, step back and realize the critical job you were elected to provide all of us who are lawful members of this community we call the United States of America and understand your job is to protect us FIRST. Then, and only then, decide who is acceptable to add. Thank you.
Dear sir: Unhappy you are undermining our elected President Trump. There is a constitutional law on immigration that gives our President leeway. Supreme Court is the only branch of government to change the law!! The Visa Waver Program Improvement and Terrorists Travel Prevention Act of 2015 states that Nationals of the 7 countries have visited any of the 7 countries since March 2022 are not eligible and will not enter the US.
