Marcus Jones Confirmed as New MCPD Chief

The Montgomery County Council confirmed Marcus Jones as Montgomery County’s new police chief Tuesday.

“I feel great this has been an incredibly long road… I’m just grateful and honored, and humbled to be in this position,” said Chief Marcus Jones said.

Jones, who has been on the force for more than 30 years, says his main initiatives moving forward include increasing diversity among sworn officers, improving ways the force handles complaints, pedestrian safety and addressing mental health.

Council President Nancy Navarro also praised Jones for his leadership, commitment to community policing and willingness to implement change.
