Man Struck and Killed by Train in Germantown on New Year’s Eve

Police sirenMontgomery County police officers are investigating the death of a man who was fatally struck by a MARC commuter train on New Year’s eve in Germantown.

According to police, it happened on Dec. 31 shortly after 9:30 p.m. on the tracks in the area of the Germantown MARC train station, which is located at 19311 Mateny Hill Road.

According to police, the initial investigation indicates that the man was in the area of the tracks when, for reasons still under investigation, he was struck by a westbound MARC commuter train. Police said the man died from his injuries at the scene. Police said the man’s identity will be released once his family is notified.
