Man Dies Crossing Piney Branch Road, Police Say
Montgomery County police are investigating how a pedestrian was struck and killed about 1 a.m. Saturday in Silver Spring, a police statement said.
The pedestrian, 30-year-old Inmar Alejan Garmendez-Escobar, was hit at Piney Branch Road and Garland Avenue, by a car driven by Noellie Espinal Rosario, 40, of the 1500 block of Overlook Drive in Silver Spring, police said.
Police said Garmendez-Escobar’s address was not confirmed.
The preliminary investigation revealed Rosario, traveling north on Piney Branch Road before Garland Avenue, hit Garmendez-Escobar, who was lying on the pavement in the roadway, police said.
Police believe Garmendez-Escobar suffered an injury before being struck by Rosario, who was driving a gray 2009 Toyota Corolla. The type and cause of injury remains under investigation.
The pedestrian was taken to a local trauma center where he was pronounced dead, police said. Rosario and a passenger were not injured, police said.
