UPDATED: Man Barricades Himself Inside House in Poolesville

UPDATE: The man was taken into custody at 5:40 p.m., a police spokeswoman said.

Original post: A man pointed a gun at another man and then barricaded himself inside a house in Poolesville, Montgomery County police said Wednesday.

Police spent three hours negotiating with the man, who was holed up inside a house in the 15800 block of Budd Road, Officer Rick Goodale said.

The man who had the gun pointed at him called police about 1:16 p.m., Goodale said. The barricaded man could have been the complainant’s former employee, he said.

Eventually, a SWAT team was summoned as negotiations with the man proceeded, he said.

Police negotiators were trying to talk to the man, he said.

“They try to exhaust every effort to talk to a buy time before forcibly entering a home,” Goodale said.

Poolesville High School was on lockdown for 29 minutes, a school system spokeswoman said.

On social media, Poolesville residents said they saw unusual police vehicles. Here’s a video published on Facebook by Alexander Rai.
