Love Fall? Here’s a list of some places and activities where you, your family and friends can enjoy music, food, art and culture.
Maiz (Corn) Festival All Day Event, Oct. 14. The new Consulate of El Salvador, located on Philadelphia Avenue will host Maiz (Corn Festival) in Silver Spring. It’s a family event that will feature learning more about agriculture and food. Click here for more details.
2nd Annual Pike District Fall Fest: Sweet Taste of Fall, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 14. Will be held at the White Flint Metro Station in North Bethesda. This outdoor festival will celebrate the local restaurants and businesses in the Pike District with a live DJ. Check out participating restaurants by clicking here.
Kensington Fall Festival 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The third annual Kensington Fall Festival will feature more than 75 craft vendors, food trucks and musical entertainment. Face painting, balloons and more will be available for kids. The street fest will take place in Old Town Kensington and admission is free.
World of Montgomery Festival, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 15 at Montgomery College Rockville Campus. Celebrated each year in October, the World of Montgomery Festival celebrates the diversity with the county through music, food, dance, art and hands-on-activities. Admission is free. Pumpkin TrolleyFest, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 21-29 at the National Capital Trolley Museum in Colesville. Pumpkin TrolleyFest includes trips to Pinson’s Pumpkin Market from 12:30 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. Pumpkin tokens available in the Museum Shop. Click here to purchase a ticket.
Butler Orchard’s Pumpkin Festival, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Every weekend in October. Enjoy a hayride to the pumpkin patch, jump in the hayloft, giant slides, visit barnyard buddies, play the rubber ducky derby, and explore the straw maze with music, hand dipped caramel apples, and more. Oktoberfest & WUMCO Walk, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 21 at Whalen Commons in Poolesville. Following the WUMCO Walk, enjoy kid activities, scarecrow contest, pumpkin painting, food vendors, costume parade, DJ, bands and a beer garden. More details can be found here.
Tiny Tot Halloween Spooktacular, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 31 at the Thomas Farm Community Center. This event is designed for children and their parents. Come in costume and enjoy a morning of crafts, games, refreshments and Halloween fun. Admission is $4. Click here to RSVP.
Nocturnal Neighbors, Begins at 5 p.m. Nov. 4 and will be held at the Locust Grove Nature Center in Bethesda. Take a hike with a naturalist to find out what happens in the woods after dark. Admission is $7 per person.
Sugarloaf Craft Festival, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 17-19 at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Gaithersburg. Attendees will have the chance to choose and shop for unique pieces from more than 450 talented artists and crafters sharing their latest work. Admission is $8 online, which can be purchased here and $10 at the door.
Holiday Lighting Ceremony, 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m at Whalen Commons in Poolesvillle on Dec. 1. The town’s annual tree lighting ceremony will include music, wagon rides, cookie decorating, visits with Santa, ice carving, skating rink and food vendors.
Ignite Your Imagination, times and dates varies, at the Cultural Art Center at Montgomery College Takoma Park / Silver Spring Campus. The college will host a series of concerts, screenings and more all season long.
