Local Organizations Answer Call for Greater Food Assistance Need Amid Pandemic
2020 has been a year like no other. The pandemic has created an even greater need than usual for food assistance.
Fortunately for those in need, a variety of food giveaway events are available locally just in time for Thanksgiving, according to the Montgomery County Food Council. The non-profit helps lead the implementation of COVID-19 food security response in the county.
“Pre pandemic about 60,000 Montgomery County residents were considered food insecure, and at this time more than 100,000 Montgomery County residents are accessing food assistance services,” said Montgomery County Food Council Programs Manager, Catherine Nardi.
The Montgomery County Food Council partners with other local organizations to help offer food resources to people in need. The non-profit has developed a page on its website to share updated food distribution events throughout the county during Thanksgiving week.
MyMCMedia talked to Nardi about this year’s food distribution plan.
