Local Officials and Coalition Supporters Launch Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Naming Contest

Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett will be joined by Rep. John Sarbanes, Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman, and Montgomery County Council Vice President Roger Berliner, along with a coalition of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) supporters are scheduled to announce the launch of a naming contest for the County’s BRT system, Thursday.

According to a news release, the branding of the BRT system is crucial step as the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) moves forward on planning and design using $10 million federal Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) funding received earlier this year.

The announcement will be made at 9 a.m. on Nov. 17th at the parking lot of the Verizon Corporate Office in Silver Spring.
