Líderes Locales Muestran su Apoyo al mes del Orgullo LGBTQ +
Junio es el Mes del Orgullo LGBTQ + (Lesbianas, Gays, Bisexuales, Transgénero y Queer), y los líderes estatales y del condado de Montgomery están expresando su apoyo en las redes sociales.
Este mes se designa como el Mes del Orgullo porque en junio de 1969 comenzó una serie de manifestaciones llamadas el Levantamiento de Stonewall. El 28 de junio, la policía allanó Stonewall Inn, un bar gay en Greenwich Village en la ciudad de Nueva York. La redada dio lugar a días de protestas consideradas como un catalizador del movimiento por los derechos de los homosexuales en Estados Unidos.
El martes, el presidente de Estados Unidos, Joe Biden, emitió una proclamación declarando junio como el Mes del Orgullo. Los líderes locales mostraron su apoyo al Mes del Orgullo en Twitter:
