Leggett to Sign “Ban the Box” Legislation Today
Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett is scheduled today to sign legislation passed by the County Council that delays the ability of employers to find out about job applicants’ criminal records until the end of the first job interview, removing a barrier to persons with criminal records finding employment.
Leggett will be joined by Councilmembers Marc Elrich and Cherri Branson, lead sponsors of the legislation along with Councilmember George Leventhal and County Corrections and Rehabilitation Director Arthur Wallenstein.
The signing will take place in the County Executive’s conference room in Rockville.
