Lead Manager Raskin Introduces Impeachment Articles in Senate
On Monday, U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md. 8), the lead impeachment manager, led eight House impeachment managers to the Senate to deliver an article of impeachment against former President Donald Trump.
The House of Representatives voted on Jan. 13 to impeach Trump for incitement of insurrection, after a mob of his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol Jan. 6. The attack on the Capitol came moments after Trump gave a conspiracy-fueled speech, filled with debunked claims about election fraud. He urged his supporters to go to the Capitol and “fight like hell” as Congress was counting electoral votes, saying, “And if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.”

The impeachment articles received a bipartisan vote in the House.
Upon delivering the impeachment article to the Senate, Raskin read it aloud. The impeachment trial is expected to begin the week of Feb. 8.
Raskin released the following statement after leading the House impeachment managers to the Senate:
Tonight, we have delivered the Article of Impeachment against Donald John Trump, former President of the United States, for high crimes and misdemeanors against the United States.
The nine Impeachment Managers appointed by the House of Representatives will present overwhelming evidence of the facts of former President Trump’s incitement of the violent insurrection that took place in and around the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
We thank our Senate Colleagues for receiving us and the American people for their careful attention to this process.”
