Late-Night Alcohol Sales Permits Will Soon Be Available for Eligible Businesses to Apply

During Montgomery County’s weekly virtual COVID-19 media briefing on Wednesday, local leaders discussed proposed changes to Executive Order 117-20, with the primary modification impacting alcohol sales after 10:00 p.m.

The Late-Night Alcohol Sales Program will authorize county food service establishments with no prior history of citations or closings due to reopening violations to apply for a permit that allows alcohol service until 12:00 a.m.

The county council will discuss and act on changes to the executive order on Thursday.

“Establishments have to opt in to this program and cannot just start selling alcohol after 10:00 p.m.,” said County Executive Marc Elrich.

Meanwhile, Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management Director Dr. Earl Stoddard said permit applications should be available online by Thursday.
