A Kentucky man has been charged in the June 8 armed robbery of a TD Bank on Shady Grove Road, a Montgomery County police statement said.

The man, Jonathan David Goff, does not appear in online court records yet. Police say he is 36 and lives on the 16500 block of St. John Road in Rineyville, Kentucky.

In the bank robbery, police said a man approached a teller, passed a note, demanding cash and implied that he was armed with a weapon, police said. The man obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled. The bank is at 15830 Shady Grove Road in Gaithersburg.

On June 20, investigators released a surveillance photograph of the man to the media and public and asked for help in identifying him. The next day, detectives received a tip that led to the identification of Goff as the suspect, police said.

On June 22, investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Goff charging him with one count of armed robbery.

On Saturday, June 29, Goff was arrested on the strength of the Montgomery County arrest warrant near Bloomington, Illinois, by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force and local law enforcement agencies.

Goff remains incarcerated in Bloomington, Illinois pending extradition to Montgomery County.
