Keeping Up With Katie: Ledecky Completes Degree from Stanford

With no competitions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Olympic gold swimmer Katie Ledecky dove head first into her schoolwork.

The Bethesda native enrolled in a full load of classes in the spring, summer and fall, making the most of her time out of the water. In November, Ledecky graduated from Stanford with an undergraduate degree in psychology.

“It was busy, and it was challenging,” Ledecky told The Washington Post last week. “But it also gave me something to do and something to focus on. There was definitely the side benefit of keeping my mind occupied during this time.”

Stanford’s graduation ceremonies are currently scheduled for early June – the same time Ledecky would be participating in the U.S. Olympic trials. If the graduation is virtual, she could possibly make it work.

“But it might be from a hotel room in Omaha,” she said.

The full story can be found at The Washington Post.
