Katz Files Candidacy Paperwork for District 3 Council Seat (PHOTOS)
Gaithersburg Mayor Sidney Katz files his paperwork for the District 3 County Council seat today (Feb. 18).
Gaithersburg Mayor Sidney Katz is running for the District 3 County Council seat being vacated by Councilmember Phil Andrews.
Instead of seeking to retain his County Council seat, Andrews is running for the office of County Executive in the June 24 primary.
Today, Katz filed his candidacy paperwork for the District 3 seat at the Board of Elections (BOE) offices. He was accompanied by Gaithersburg Councilmember Cathy Drzyzgula, who said she is supporting Katz’s campaign.
Another Gaithersburg City Councilmember, Ryan Spiegel, is also running against Katz in what may become an exciting race to watch.
Both Katz and Spiegel will face even more competition from an official in the bordering City of Rockville.
Councilmember Tom Moore is also seeking the open District 3 seat. Moore filed his paperwork at the BOE last week.
