I’m ISO Tiger or Bubba
While MCM’s Sonya Burke is busy staking out the chic restaurants in Bethesda today for a Tiger viewing I chose a different tact. I went to a driving range. The South Germantown Golf Range to be exact. What better place other than Congressional would you find an opportunity to see a pro golfer or future star practice?
It turns out after hitting a bucket of balls and eating lunch on a picnic table I saw no pro golfers but plenty of budding pros, about a dozen future Michele Wi’s.
South Germantown Driving Range operated by the Maryland National Park and Planning Commission provides for a great businessman’s luncheon special. Go to the driving range, buy a Range Card (debit card) and use it between 11:30 and 1PM weekdays to get a bucket of balls at half price. A bucket of balls are priced at $7 for 52; $11 for 104; and $16 for 169. You do the math. It’s a great deal.
The hours of operation are Monday thru Friday 9A to 10P; Saturday and Sunday 7A to 10P. The range is lit and the tee area is mostly covered.
Glenn Phillips and former Winston Churchill graduate Keith Roberston are the PGA pros there but I didn’t see them which further frustrated me on my look out for any pro golfer. Perhaps Keith and Glenn are in Bethesda somewhere near Congressional and maybe they will run into Sonya on her search for a Tiger or Bubba.
