Housing Opportunities CommissionMontgomery County Executive Ike Leggett joined officials from the Housing Opportunities Commission today to launch an innovative program in Gaithersburg that provides low-income families the opportunity to purchase laptops through interest-free loans.

The program will leverage the agency’s purchasing power to help children compete in the classroom and adults to compete in the workplace. Studies have shown that schools with high concentrations of poverty within their student enrollments have both technology and achievement gaps.

Montgomery County Council President Craig Rice and Councilmember Nancy Navarro also attended this event.
