Gaithersburg Council Expected to Announce New Councilmember Appointment Today (VIDEO)
The Gaithersburg City Council has narrowed the selection of candidates for the open Council seat left vacant by the passing of Henry Marraffa from 12 candidates to five finalists and the elected leaders are expected to announce their choice for the appointment today in a news release, according to City Attorney Lynn Board.
The five finalists are Jose Contreras, James McNulty, Yvette Monroe, James Rolfes and Laurie-Anne Sayles.
On Jan. 23, the candidates delivered statements to the Council at a work session that preceded formal interviews on Jan. 25 and 26.

A swearing in session is scheduled for Feb. 8. The new Councilmember is scheduled to serve until the next city election on Nov. 7.
