Flags Fly at Half-Staff on Patriot Day
President Donald Trump has ordered the United States flag and Maryland State flag flown at half-staff on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from sunrise to sunset.
This is in honor of Patriot Day and a National Day of Service and Remembrance, in respect and memory of the victims who died as a result of the terrorist attacks against the United States on September 11, 2001.
President Trump’s proclamation may be found, here.
I also wanted to publicly commend our local heroes at Sandy Spring VFD who sprang into action to voluntarily restore Old Glory at the local Chic-fil-A in Olney, MD this morning.
Vandals had evidently cut the halyard rope prior to Patriot Day. A colleague and I were grateful to witness their resolute actions and quiet humility in honoring our fallen heroes on this solemn day.
Thank you, Sandy Spring VFD, once again for demonstrating your sincere devotion and service to our county and our country.
