1. Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) has 138 semifinalists in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship competition. The Montgomery County high schools with the most semifinalists are Montgomery Blair (41), Richard Montgomery (41) and Poolesville (13). You can peruse the complete list of semifinalists here.

2. Less than a week away: The Silver Spring Transit Center opens on Sept. 20.

3. Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett took a photo for Donald Trump at the Hispanic Gala.

4. The Montgomery County Council returns from its summer break tomorrow. You can peruse the Council’s agenda here.

5. The Washington Spirit’s season is over. The Spirit lost to Seattle Reign, 3-0, last night in the semi-final game.
