1. It’s International Walk to School Day and local leaders are celebrating at Bells Mill Elementary School in Potomac.

2. Montgomery County Councilmember Craig Rice will meet with residents at a community meeting in Germantown tonight. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at Northwest High School.

3. Unemployment in Montgomery County is down, according to Executive Ike Leggett.

4. The City of Rockville plans to broadcast a live debate tonight featuring the candidates for Mayor and City Council. The debate is hosted by the Rockville Chamber of Commerce. The city election is scheduled for Nov. 3.

5. Master storyteller Frederick Forsyth visits the Gaithersburg Library tonight. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the program begins at 7 p.m. Seating is limited for this literary event.
