Here are five things to know today, May 16, in Montgomery County:

1. Hotel Pool Bill: The Montgomery County Council meets today and one of the items on the agenda is the introduction of a bill that would exempt area hotels from having a lifeguard on duty at the pool.

2. A Legend: Legendary high school football coach Bob Milloy is being honored by Montgomery County Council members today. Milloy has won more high school games than any other high school football coach in Maryland.

3. Police Fundraiser: The Gaithersburg Police Foundation is holding a fundraiser at Dogfish Head Alehouse, 800 West Diamond Avenue, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. today. The restaurant is donating 15-percent of its proceeds to the foundation.

4. New Player: The Washington Spirit will introduce forward Mallory Pugh at a news conference today at the Maryland SoccerPlex. Pugh begins training with the team this week, and may make her National Women Soccer League debut on Saturday against Kansas City.

5. Before It’s Too Late: The state of Maryland has launched a new web portal titled, Before It’s Too Late, to address the state’s opioid crisis. The site includes resources and other information, including this public service announcement video, below:
