Five Things to Know Today, Aug. 20, in Montgomery County

fiveThe National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Montgomery County beginning at 4 p.m. today.

Here are five more things to know today, Aug. 20, in Montgomery County:

1. The Wootton community is mourning the loss of principal Michael Doran, who passed away on Wednesday.  A memorial service is scheduled for Friday evening at the high school’s stadium.

2. Clarksburg High School received the 2014-2015 overall Sportsmanship Award at a meeting of athletic directors this week.

3. Road improvements are now underway at the intersection of Great Seneca Highway and Kentlands Boulevard/Orchard Ridge Drive in Gaithersburg. Weather permitting, the work should be complete by year’s end.

4. It’s Military Day at the Montgomery County Fair, and there’s something for everyone at the Fair.

5. Montgomery County Police, Maryland State Police, Rockville Police, the Sheriff’s Office and representatives from the State’s Attorney’s Office are scheduled to hold a meet and greet from 6 – 8 p.m. tonight at Rockville Town Square.
