Here are five things you need to know today, Wednesday, Sept. 26  in Montgomery County:

1. A Chance of Thunderstorms: A cold front will cross the region late today and help trigger numerous showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, some of which could be severe with damaging winds, according to The National Weather Service.

3. Nolte Local Park Activity Building Update: Montgomery Parks is inviting the public to learn about plans for the removal of the Park Activity Building (PAB) at Nolte Local Park. The meeting will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at the M-NCPPC Montgomery Regional Office building, 8787 Georgia Avenue, in Silver Spring.

4. Senior Health Fair: A senior health fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Homecrest House, located at 14508 Homecrest Road in Silver Spring.
