Here are five things to know today, June 7, in Montgomery County:
1. Program for the homeless: The Inside/Not Outside Initiative kicks off at 10:15 a.m. at the Executive Office Building in Rockville.
2. Berliner launches campaign: Montgomery County Council President Roger Berliner will launch his effort to become the next county executive with an event starting at 7 p.m. at Owen’s Ordinary at Pike & Rose, 11820 Trade Street, North Bethesda.
3. LGBTQ community meeting: Montgomery County police meets with the LGBTQ community starting at 7 p.m. at the Hollywood East Cafe, 11160 Veirs Mill Road, Wheaton (inside Westfield Wheaton).
4. Busy day for graduations: Col. Zadok Magruder High School, Rockville, will graduate its seniors at 9 a.m. at the Xfinity Center, University of Maryland, College Park. The speaker will be Helen Maroulis, a former Magruder student and an Olympic gold medalist in wrestling. Poolesville High’s ceremony begins at 10 a.m. at Mount St. Mary’s University, Emmitsburg. Rockville High’s ceremony starts at 10 a.m. at DAR Constitution Hall. Sherwood High, Sandy Spring, holds its ceremony at 1:30 p.m. at the Xfinity Center. John F. Kennedy High, Silver Spring, will graduate its class of 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at DAR Constitution Hall.
5. It’s EPIC: Montgomery Community Media proudly presents the first EPIC Awards, given for “Excellence in Programming and Innovative Content.” The elegant affair will be held at The Fillmore in Silver Spring on June 8.
