Five Things to Know for July 17 in Montgomery County

Here’s five things you need to know for Tuesday, July 17, in Montgomery County:

1. Speed Bump Regulation: The Montgomery County Council is expected to vote on amending a speed hump regulation, approved 21 years ago, that would modify the speed hump eligibility criteria.  Here’s the agenda. 

2. Coffee with a Cop: Join Montgomery County police officers for coffee and ice-cream with a Cop from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the McDonalds in Twinbrook, located at 2101 Veirs Mill Road in Rockville.

3. Silver Spring Post Office Temporary Location:  The U.S. Post Office, located in Spring Center on 16th Street, will now operate from the Silver Spring Library today. The old facility will be demolished for Purple Line construction. The post office is expected to operate in the temporary location until March 1, 2019 when Arts on the Block is scheduled to take over the space for its office, studios and a retail store.

4. Local Economy Activator: This is an opportunity for residents to learn and share with others interested in the Montgomery County cooperative movement. The meeting will take place in the Silver Spring Civic Center and begins at 6:30 p.m.

5. Early Learning Initiatives: Montgomery County Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Jack Smith, will update the Board of Education on the Early Learning Initiatives during the Board’s meeting this afternoon.
