County Officials Will Remember Homeless Individuals During Memorial Service

Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett is expected to join the Montgomery County Council and local non-profits to remember homeless individuals who died in 2017 and 2018.

The second annual memorial service will take place at the Executive Officer Building Circuit Court Plaza, located at 101 Monroe Street in Rockville.

Last year, 50 individuals in the community were recognized during the first community memorial service.

In addition to the remembrance ceremony, officials will announce a community-wide effort to end homelessness for families with children by 2020.

Results from the 2018 Point-in-Time survey published by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, revealed that more than 800 individuals are experiencing homelessness in Montgomery County and 85 families with children are experiencing homelessness, according to a news release.
