Here are five things to know for Tuesday, May 22, in Montgomery County:
1. Council Session: The Montgomery County Council is expected to vote on a special appropriation to the County Government’s Fiscal Year 18 Operating Budget on funding legal representation for residents detained for deportation proceedings.
2. Congressional Forum on Election Security: U.S. Congressman Jamie Raskin (MD-8) will host a forum regarding the election systems to discuss what the Election Assistance Commission is doing to help states secure their elections. The forum will take place at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville today at 7 p.m.
3. Noah on Patrol: The parents of fallen Officer Noah Leotta is expected to be joined by Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett, and other county leaders and private sector supporters to announce a new initiative titled, Noah On Patrol. This new public-private education-enforcement aims to make Montgomery County the first major jurisdiction in the nation to eliminate drunk driving.
