Five Things to Know for Aug. 17 in Montgomery County

Here are five things you need to know for Friday, Aug. 17, in Montgomery County:

1. Montgomery Planning leadership changes: Thursday, Planning Director Gwen Wright announced the appointment of two new Deputy Directors, Tanya Stern and Robert Kronenberg.

2. Seventh Grade Immunization Clinics Continue: With less than three weeks until the start of the school year, Montgomery County is offering free Tdap and MCV4 vaccinations to incoming seventh-grade students at locations throughout the County. Click here for a list of times and schedules.

3. Rockville school supply drive: The city of Rockville is working to ensure that every child has a backpack full of necessary school supplies. Community members may donate school materials at six collection sites around the city from now through Aug. 22.

4. Zumba in the park: All ages are welcome for this free, family-friendly event at the Gaithersburg City Hall Pavilion from 7 – 8 p.m.

5. Demolition Derby at the Fair: The Montgomery County Agricultural Fair closes Saturday, Aug. 18. The popular Demolition Derby is back today and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. See the fair schedule for today, here.
