Firefighters Investigate What Sparked House Fire in Potomac (PHOTOS)
Montgomery County firefighters are investigating what sparked a house fire last night at 10 Lamp Post Court in Potomac.Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer said it was a “significant fire” and about 65 firefighters were called to the scene. Piringer said the fire appears to have ignited on the exterior rear deck and spread. He said four residents and their pets were displaced by the blaze. According to Piringer, damages are estimated at $650,000.
During the fire, Piringer said two firefighters were injured. According to Piringer, one firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation and another was injured when he fell about 20 feet. Their injuries are not life threatening, Piringer said.
Firefighters will return to the neighborhood today to check smoke alarms at adjacent residences, according to Piringer.
