The Ethiopian Festival returns on Sunday, September 1 from 1 to 9 p.m. at Veterans Plaza, located at Fenton Street and Ellsworth Drive in downtown Silver Spring. The festival is an opportunity to share and celebrate the Ethiopian cultural heritage.

There will be a full lineup of musical performances including traditional and modern Ethiopian music, a fashion show, comedy and more. Multiple vendors will display their work. There will be activities for families and children throughout the day. County Executive Marc Elrich will present a proclamation proclaiming September 1 as Ethiopian Day in Montgomery County at 7 p.m.

“The Ethiopian Festival has been a staple of Downtown Silver Spring for quite some time now,” said Director of the Regional Services Area Reemberto Rodriquez. “It is it is an opportunity to get to know, mingle and enjoy the best of the Ethiopian community right in the heart of Silver Spring.”

The festival is three blocks from the Silver Spring Metro station. Free parking is available at nearby county-owned garages. For more information, visit the Silver Spring Arts & Entertainment District website.
