UPDATE: Pedestrian Struck in Wheaton Dies From Injuries

Update (Aug. 30): The pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Randolph Road at Glenmont Circle on Tuesday has died from his injuries, police announced Friday evening.

Police identified the pedestrian as 24-year-old Roger Odin Martinez-Mejia of Wheaton.

The investigation for this collision is ongoing, police say.


Original Post (Aug. 28): Montgomery County detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a collision in Wheaton that left a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries.

The collision occurred Tuesday on Randolph Road at Glenmont Circle at around 9:09 p.m., police say. Investigators say a 2017 Dodge Caravan had been heading eastbound on Randolph when it struck a pedestrian at the Glenmont Circle intersection.

The pedestrian, who police say is an adult man from Wheaton, was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police identified the driver of the vehicle as Harold Lanning Jr. of Silver Spring. Lanning and the passengers in his vehicle weren’t injured from the collision and they stayed at the collision scene, police say.

Investigators are continuing to look into this collision and urge anyone with information to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
