Elrich Not on Board with Hogan Lifting COVID-19 State of Emergency: ‘This is Not The End of Recovery’

Gov. Larry Hogan announced on Tuesday that the COVID-19 State of Emergency in Maryland will end on July 1 meaning that all emergency restrictions and mandates will lift. Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich says although things are moving in the right direction, the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic still lingers.

“This is not the end of recovery,” he said during his weekly virtual media briefing on Wednesday. “We may be approaching a new health normal, but we’re still not approaching the old economy normal.”

Elrich explains what impact the lift will have on Montgomery County’s current recovery efforts.
